If I Will Be The Next President of the Ateneo de Davao University

Ateneo de Davao University is one of the best universities in the Philippines. As an Atenean I am proud to be one of the students of Ateneo, the high standard education, quality education, good facilities and mostly a catholic university. Ateneo de Davap University is under the administered by the Society of Jesus, Fr. Antonio S. Samson S.J. is the current president of Ateneo de Davao University but next school year he will be replaced. The new president is not yet proclaimed all the students of Ateneo expect that the next president will not be too strict in terms of the policies and regulations of the school. To be a president of a prestige school is not an easy job to do because there are many duties and responsibilities and everyone expects an excellent leadership. Leadership is an important it thing in running a university the president has a big role to make mission, vision and goal to create a better organization in the university.

If I will be the next president of the Ateneo de Davao University I will not be strict to students but I will shaped them to become a responsible person where they can discover something to their life because of freedom. Freedom is one of the good things I want to implement in the university because I believe that every student have rights to do things they want in life, but as a student they must know their limitations all they have to do is follow the rules and regulations in school. As a president, I will guide every student in achieving their educational goals and provide the needs of the school mostly to the school facilities, performance of the professors and focus more about the needs of the students. My full attention is the educational needs of the student and assures that they learn a lot from their studies. I will not change the rules and regulation of the school because I don’t want to change the things that the Ateneo organization used to do and I don’t want them to experience culture shocked. I want to have a peaceful and livable university which everyone has freedom to do what they want in life, I believe that through freedom people will discover self-discovery and that is very helpful in knowing their selves better.

Valentines Day Preparation

This Valentines Day we will sell Cakes and Pastries for our personal selling practice in our marketing salesmanship subject. Our teacher required us to sell and make a good product that is perfect to sell this Valentines Day. My group mates decided to sell Cakes and Pastries as our product. It is an opportunity for me to share my skills and offer some of my own recipes in baking cakes and other pastry recipes.  This week we received a lot of orders of cakes and pastries. I never expect that people will be interested to buy to our product though I know that they can order or buy to other bakeries and cake shop which can offer a better service rather than us. Last night I started to bake and I also made boxes as a packaging to our cakes. My friend Kim and I did a lot of things last week as a preparation to Valentines Day.

It is not easy for me to do two things at the same time, last week was our exam week and I have also responsibilities to our marketing business. I did not study my lesson very well because my time was divided into two business and studies. Our preparation for Valentines Day was planned last month and we need to beat our expected income that is why we need to be serious about it. I know that in business there’s a risk and we need to work hard to earn more or more than what we expect in the business. Preparation is very important it is the way of preparing and planning things to make it work and to have a perfect result in the end. We expect that this Valentines Day we will serve and give all our best to make our customers satisfy to our product.

My Early Vacation in Bohol

It is an opportunity for me to go to other places most especially when my family are coming with me. Last Wednesday my family and I went to Bohol to visit my relatives there and at the same time to have a 4 day vacation. I was very excited that day because finally I'm going to see my relatives. We left Davao City around 3:30 p.m. the weather that time is really bad, it was a cloudy and rainy day. While riding on plane I was so nervous because the plane was shaking, I know it is normal but I was really afraid that time thinking what if the plane will crash? I comforted myself and get my mp4 to listen music for me to convert my negative thoughts and never-mind the shaking plane. For an hour journey finally we reached Cebu tat 4:45 p.m. the plane was landed at Mactan-Cebu International Airport. I thank God for the safe trip. We traveled about 4 hours to reach Bohol we went there about 9:00 o'clock in the evening. We stayed at Loon, Bohol the house of my Auntie the sister of my mother. When we reached to their place my Auntie was very glad to see us again It was a happy day for me because we see each other again.

Our first day in Bohol was not so good because the heavy rain falls. My Auntie wants to go to Tagbilaran City the capital city of Bohol so I decided to go with her I'm so happy because even though it's rainy I went to Tagbilaran City and tour around the city. It was a very nice place the Bol-anon was hospitable and kind. My second day in Bohol was the most awaited day of my life my relatives tour me all over the Bohol especially to the historical places there. I went to Baclayon Church one of the oldest churches in the Philippines It was a little bit creepy because of the old establisment and design. The church was preserved and there's a lot of tourists went to see the beauty of the historical church. I prayed there and tour the museum upstairs there are a lot of religious articles and thing there I was really amazed because some of those things are ancient about 1700-1800. I went to Tarsier Home the Philippine Tarsier has been called the smallest monkey in the world for the very first time of my life I saw a Tarsier I took a lot of pictures. I went also to Loo Church the Church of Our Lady of Light in Loon, Bohol is it the biggest church in Bohol. I attended the 6:00 o'clock mass there It was a very beautiful church. I experience climbing one of the world famous Chocolate Hills and saw the beauty of nature. I also went to Sagbayan Peak one of the tourist spot in Bohol I even see the Chocolate Hills there. The bounty and the beauty of nature was a gift from God and I therefore conclude that the Boholano was blessed for having all those places. I had a wonderful time in Bohol thanks to my relatives who was very hospitable to us. Overall I'd say I would love to go back there again and stay a bit longer our trip was only two days and really enjoy everything.

Child Labor

Last Wednesday I passed by the Bankerohan Market to canvas, ingredients of Cassava Cake that I plan to bake this week. I observed the environment many people buy their daily needs to avail low price products. My heart was touched when I saw children who work in the market carrying a heavy sack of rice, boxes of fruits and vegetables. I can feel the burden of the children deep inside their hearts, their faces looks tired and their body looks weak but they need to work to earn money. Children who work at their early age need a protection and care to let them realize that they need to be in school to learn instead of working. But we cannot blame them to work because they need to earn money to buy their needs for their family. I can’t understand why their parents let their children work just to get a little money from them. Sad to say in this new world poverty is the main reason why the child labor rate increases every year.

In the Philippines Child Labor is illegal but because of poverty they have to work in order to sustain the needs of their family. Some of these children are forced to work at a very young age by their parents. They try their best to earn money to support their family daily needs. Poverty is the main reason due to which children under the age of 18 years are compelled to work in dangerous and life threatening conditions. The consequences of Child Labor on an underage child can be numerous and crippling on his or her physical, mental and emotional condition. It can seriously hamper the well being of a child who is supposed to get a sound education and nutrition to develop into a healthy adult. Due to Child labor these children end up being malnutrition, weak and can also suffer from a large number of ailments. It is not easy for them to work at their innocence life all people were born with rights. Children are people too; so, children also have rights. These rights are violated through child labor. Children have right for survival; to develop to the fullest; to protection from harmful influences, abuse and exploitation; and to participate fully in family, cultural and social life. Children need it for their mental, emotional, social development and ethical behavior development it is a guiding principle which will be the source of its work, character, and adaptation to its surrounding

Lifetime Hero

Last semester I took up Hist50 a subject which tackled about the life of Jose Rizal. I wondered why every college students must take this subject as part of the curricular. I am a Marketing student and for me it is not necessary to know the life of Jose Rizal, because I can’t make use of it to my work in the future. Everybody knows that history is a boring subject, sometimes in the middle of our discussion we felt asleep because of the topic which we can’t relate. But I come to think of it that if Jose Rizal didn’t sacrifice his life for the sake of Filipino people we can’t achieve independence. I began to know better our national hero and I found out that we must be grateful to him because of his martyrdom we achieve liberty. I initiate that every Filipino must know the life of our national hero.

The life of Jose Rizal was very touching. His life story is a great interpretation of the Philippines tragic history it shows patriotism and heroism.  His intelligence, courage, and belief in peaceful change inspired millions of Filipino. He was the catalyst for revolution, and although not the advocate, still paid the ultimate price. He was a peaceful man and used the power of the pen to express himself. It would eventually lead to his imprisonment and execution. And because of his heroism our country achieved freedom. The sacrifice of Jose Rizal to his country is not easy, he did a lot of struggles just to attain democracy. His love for his country, and his observations of Spanish rule impassioned him to speak out about injustice. The casualty of Jose Rizal ia beautiful death he fell in the ground facing the sky, having his last breath looking at a beautiful sunrise- a metaphor depicting that Rizal did not die in vain. He did not die defeated because his death is the torch. Through his pen, and peaceful protest, he galvanized a nation. He was the catalyst for change, but change was still along time coming. This is the tragedy of a young life, cut short, with so much hope to give. In death there is immortality, Jose Rizal still lives today - in the hearts of million Filipinos.

Less Talk, Less Mistake

I learned something from a friend of mine a quotation from her mind "Less Talk, Less Mistake". It is a four words combined into a thought where my mind think twice to figure out what is the real meaning of it. On my own understanding people should be more sensitive to their words that they utter from their mouth. Sometimes people made mistakes because of the wrong opinion or wrong information that they talked about which can affect arguments to other people. People easily get information anywhere and can freely talk about it to somebody else, but sometimes from the information they gathered they can exaggerate the whole story that leads into a wrong interpretation. Through exaggerating the stories people might interpret it wrong that cause misunderstanding to people. Every person should be aware to their verbal action to lessen false impression.

People are humans that can make mistakes and do wrong things at the same time, but as a human being we should be aware to our moral actions and good ethics. To less talking is to keep private things and never talk about it to other people. We should avoid exaggerating things to bypass misconception. A person who talk less is a person who has a good moral value and knows how to value the truth. It is better to remain silent and find peace, than to talk a lot and blow out of proportion in a wrong way then find troubles and misjudgment.

My Teacher

For thirteen years of journey in my studies, I met a modern hero. That hero is my teacher he has a complexity to his left leg but despite of his disability he tried his best to attend our class though sometimes his left leg is painful. My professor is a smart man he is a man with knowledge and wisdom. He is a teacher with a passionate heart, who always prioritize his students before any thing else. He is my teacher in NS2, a good professor who have a lot of knowledge about Science. The first day I met my teacher I observed his difficulty in class because of his situation, I can feel the pain deep inside but he never care about it. My teacher wants us to learn something from his teaching. He really wants us to know many things about nature and theories on Science. He wants us to ask question after his lecture so that he will answer all the things that we do not understand.

As a student of him I can consider him as an ideal teacher of today’s generation. He is a teacher with a passion and care to his work. He is willing to teach despite of his condition. For him it is not a hindrance to show his burning desire to teach and share his knowledge to his students. He is a kind of teacher who never gives up in every battle and challenges of life come in, because he believes that his desire to teach is one way of serving God and to his countrymen. I thank God for meeting a very brilliant person like my teacher; he is an inspiration to all the students who know him. Now, I can probably say that a hero is in within a person who has a heart, care, and passion to his life. A person who has mission, vision and goal to what he is doing today.
